St. Rita Parish Masses at Camp DeSales
Also serving St. Joseph Shrine and the Catholic Deaf Community
First Mass: 10:30 AM - Sunday, May 31, 2020 - Feast of Pentecost
TODAY'S MASS - MAY 31 - WILL HAPPEN - FORECAST: COOL, DRY
St. Rita's is connected with Camp DeSales through the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales. To provide additional parish Mass options, Fr. Ken McKenna, OSFS, with the Oblate seminarians at Camp DeSales, will offer 10:30 AM Sunday Mass throughout the summer. These outdoor Masses will take place at the campfire site near Vineyard Lake (pictured above). Mass may need to be cancelled if the weather forecast looks poor. To check, come back to this webpage anytime after 8 AM Saturday morning (one day before Mass). You will see either: "THIS SUNDAY'S MASS WILL HAPPEN" or THIS SUNDAY'S MASS IS CANCELLED." Attention Catholic Deaf: Fr. Ken is happy to sign (and speak) Mass for members of the Catholic Deaf community who attend Mass (please let him know you are coming).
When you arrive at Camp DeSales (click here if you need directions), please use the main entrance by the horse corral and park in the softball field (click here to see the layout of Camp). If you need to get closer, ushers will let you drive by the Mass site. After unloading, please park at Lawrence Lodge or the parking lot near the chapel (all spaces reserved as handicapped/senior friendly parking). After parking, please social distance and walk toward the lake. Sit on the grass, or on a blanket or lawn chair you brought from home (Camp seating is limited). We will have a loud PA system so please SPREAD OUT, sitting at least 12 feet from another family or parishioner. There is room on the hill for 100 plus people. If more parishioners come than we can safely handle you may be asked to return home or sit further away. If this happens we will add a second Mass the following week (please check this website for the latest information).
We recommend you read the diocesan guidelines before coming. There will be no collection. Please support St. Rita's online by clicking here or by mailing your donation directly to the church. St Joseph parishioners please support the Shrine online or by mail. Thank you for your support.
The Oblates are pleased to offer Camp as a venue for summer Masses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
